Police looking for alleged car thief who attempted to steal ATM machines

HENDERSON, Nev. – Henderson Police officers are searching for a man who they say attempted to steal a duo of ATM machines early Tuesday morning.

Police said dispatchers received a nine hundred eleven call about a man who entered the Walgreens at four hundred one N. Arroyo Grande Blvd. According to officers, the man placed a strenuous chain around a freestanding ATM near the front door, before using a stolen black Dodge Journey to pull the ATM machine out of the store.

However, officers stalled his plan to leave when they displayed up at the scene. Henderson Police said a brief pursuit occurred as the suspect traveled south on North Stephanie Road.

The suspect crashed the stolen Dodge into a wall near Santiago Drive and North Stephanie Road before he hopped out of the vehicle and fled on foot.

Police said the suspect hid from officers inwards a home in the area. A perimeter was established around the neighbors surrounding North Stephanie Road, Santiago Drive, North Arroyo Grande Boulevard and Trail Canyon Road to search for him.

Police say the suspect then stole a two thousand six gray Land Cruiser from a garage. The vehicle had 282SYG on its Nevada license plate.

Henderson Police says it believes the suspect may have also been involved with the attempted burglary of another ATM earlier in the morning at the InTouch Credit Union located at four thousand two hundred ninety nine E. Sunset Rd.

The 2nd vehicle he allegedly stole, the gray Land Cruiser was later found by officers in Primm. Henderson Police officers, K-9s, Metro Air and K-9 officers have been involved in the search.

The suspect is described as a white man in his 30’s who’s 5-feet 10-inches tall, about two hundred pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a gray hoodie sweatshirt, a sunburn hat, light blue jeans with gray and white sneakers.

Henderson Police said the suspect is considered armed and dangerous.
