Independent Publisher – A beautiful reader-focused WordPress theme, for you

Welcome!

This site is both the official home and a demo site for the Independent Publisher project, an open source WordPress theme.

Fresh here? Commence exploring:

  • Preview the theme on this site by browsing the fine demo content (don’t leave behind to say hello to some of the authors!) or see the list of sites already running the theme
  • Download the theme from WordPress.org or install it from your WordPress Dashboard by going to Appearance -> Themes -> Add Fresh and searching for ‘Independent Publisher’.
  • Report a bug or submit a feature request (a free GitHub account is required)
  • Go after us on Twitter and Like us on Facebook
  • If you’re a developer, you can fork the project and help contribute code by submitting a Pull Request over at GitHub. (This site is automatically updated every fifteen minutes with the latest code from the master branch of the GitHub repository; you can find the auto-update script here.)

To learn more about the project and the person who commenced it, see the About page.

Who’s this for?

This is for independent publishers, creators, makers, and believers in the open source movement.

If you believe that everyone has a right to independent publishing and that a beautiful, well-maintained home for your published work should be beautifully designed, well-maintained, and available to everyone free of charge, then this project is for you.

About the Demo Content

The demo content you see on this site is real content contributed by real, awesome people just like yourself, people who are interested in the the Independent Publisher project and who want to help showcase the theme using their own content.

Doesn’t real content hit showcasing a theme with dummy “Lorem Ipsum” content? If you’d like to see your own content on this site, I invite you to contribute.

By the way, as part of the theme demo, this post is what a Gooey post looks like.
