AN Uber passenger has saved the life of a Florida policeman after he lifted him off the car he had hailed after the driver suffered a seizure.

Kenny Franklin was on his way to work on Miami’s I-4 Motorway when the driver of the SUV he was travelling in collapsed at the wheel.

“His foot is accelerating on the gas, and instantly, I’m in the back seat wondering, ‘Okay, my life is pretty much over at this point,’” Franklin told Fox News.

Franklin was able to steer the car to the side of the road, but the driver then came to and embarked panicking.

“He didn’t know where he was at, so he attempted to put the car into a gear, and so he’s fumbling with the car,” Franklin said.

Franklin then got out of the car he was a passenger in and behind them was Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Jack Hypes who had pulled his car over to see what was going on.

“He starts walking up towards me, to assist and assess the situation,” Franklin said.

“As he does that, the driver mistakenly puts the car in switch sides and hits the officer.”

Hypes was then pinned under the car.

Somehow Franklin then found the strength to lift the car off Hypes.

“Adrenaline was racing,” Franklin said.

“Your heart, you know, is going a million miles an hour, and all you’re thinking about at that time is this, this needs to end well.”

Hypes suffered non-life menacing injuries.

The Uber driver has recovered from his gig.

Florida Highway Patrol has commended Franklin for his deeds.

“Honestly, I was just somebody who was in a position to help, in the right place at the right time,” Franklin said.

“I’m glad that, you know, I had something to do with lives being preserved.”
