Update – Toyota Kirloskar Motor has responded to IndianAutosblog.com’s query on the lowering of Fortuner prices. The company said –
We still have not revised or determined on revised prices for any of our models as we are awaiting some more clarification on the GST front.
Prices were hiked only last month.
The second-gen Toyota Fortuner was launched in India at INR 25.92 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) in November last year and now starts at INR 26.66 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). According to a report from Rushlane, prices of the Fortuner will reduce by up to INR 1.Two lakh with the GST implementation next month. The SUV’s prices were hiked only last month, and this could mark the very very first example of the Fortuner’s price ripping off (disregarding dealer discounts) since the launch of the nameplate in 2009.
Isuzu, Ford, BMW, Mercedes, Audi and Jaguar Land Rover products are now suggested at post-GST prices.
The effective GST on passenger vehicles measuring over four metres in length and having engines thicker than 1,500 cc in displacement is 43%, which includes 28% GST and 15% cess. Presently, 55.3% tax is levied on SUVs in India. The Fortuner diesel 4X4 AT, presently priced at INR 31,86,000 (ex-showroom Delhi), will see a price reduction of INR 1.Two lakh, as per the report.
Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Ford have already slashed their model prices to post-GST levels to avoid inventory pile up, but Toyota is yet to make an announcement on the updated prices. Presently, the Toyota Fortuner is priced from INR 26.66 lakh for the petrol model and from INR 28.66 lakh for the diesel model. Six different configurations are available, two with the Two.7-litre Dual VVTi petrol engine good for one hundred sixty six PS and two hundred forty five Nm of torque and four with the Two.8-litre diesel engine that develops one hundred seventy seven PS and four hundred twenty Nm (6MT)/450 Nm (6AT) of torque. The petrol model is suggested with 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission choices.
Presently, the Toyota Fortuner is priced from INR 26.66 lakh for the petrol model and from INR 28.66 lakh for the diesel model.
Bi-Beam LED projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights, puddle lamps, 18-inch alloy wheels, LED tail lights, power tailgate, 8-way power adjustable driver seat, dual-zone climate control, large TFT MID with navigation turn display, 7.0-inch capacitive touchscreen infotainment system with satellite navigation, DVD player and six speakers, seven airbags and Downhill Assist Control are some of the key features of the Toyota Fortuner.
