Datsun Redi GO AMT, 1
Datsun Redi GO AMT, 1.0-litre variants to launch by very first half of 2017
Nissan brought the Datsun brand into India to take on the very competitive low-cost petite car segment. Since then, the Datsun has brought in three products: the Datsun Go and the Datsun Go+ compact MPV. Both models were capable machines for the Indian market, but it is the Datsun Redi GO that has seen the most success so far. The Redi GO has been a strong seller for Datsun, and that is telling something given the kind of competition it faces, like the evergreen Maruti Suzuki Alto 800, the Tata Nano and its very popular brother from another mother, the Renault Kwid. All these cars are powered by sub-1.0-litre engines, but all that is about to switch with the 1.0-litre version of the Datsun Redi GO.
The more powerful Datsun Redi GO, which is expected to launch by June 2017, is going to get the same engine as the Renault Kwid 1.0. As such, it is very likely that the fresh, more powerful version of the Redi GO will also be named the Datsun Redi GO 1.0. Another big addition to the Datsun Redi GO line will be the automatic manual transmission (AMT), which will also be coming from the Renault Kwid AMT models. In all likelihood, the 1.0-litre engine option as well as AMT will be suggested in the costliest S variant of the Redi GO. Also Read: Nissan, Datsun cars to get more expensive from January 2017
The budge to add a thicker engine and automatic transmission does not come as a surprise. Both the Renault Kwid and Datsun Redi GO share more than just the engine. They are also built on the same CMF-A platform that was jointly built by Renault and Nissan. When the Renault Kwid 1.0L version and AMT was launched in 2016, everyone knew it was only a matter of time when the Datsun Redi GO would also get the same additions.
The nine hundred ninety nine cc engine that will come to the Redi GO produces sixty seven bhp of peak power at Five,500 rpm and ninety one Nm of peak torque at Four,250 rpm on the Kwid. It is likely that the Redi GO will get the engine in the same state of tune. The Kwid 1.0 RXT is the only variant to get AMT. Following the same principles, the top-end Datsun Redi GO 1.0 S will also be the only variant to get auto transmission. It is not sure if the Redi GO will get the same rotary dial gearbox on the Renault Kwid or a standard gear stick. The Datsun Redi GO is presently priced in the range of INR Two.38 lakh to INR Three.54 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The Redi GO 1.0 will likely come at a price of INR Three.85 lakh, and INR four lakh with the auto gearbox. Also Read: Renault KWID, Duster and Lodgy to get price hike from January 2017
