Two people were killed when a BMW convertible spinned over in the North End early Friday.

«Our hearts go out to Connor Darcey`s family, teammates, friends, and everyone who knew him,» the Penn State Athletics Department said in a press release Friday afternoon. «It`s a very sad day. The Penn State family has suffered a tremendous loss, and we are deeply saddened. Our thoughts and prayers are with Connor`s family, friends, fellow students, and the boys`s lacrosse family.»

Darcey, a junior goalie, commenced all fourteen games for Penn State this season and was named to the Big ten all-tournament team in May. He had a Ten.07 goals-against average and .553 save percentage. He was named to the Globe`s All-Scholastic team for lacrosse in two thousand twelve and was a four-year starter at Wellesley High and a two-time All-American.

«We learned the tragic news of an overnight car accident in Boston that claimed the lives of two individuals and critically injured a third,» Wellesley Schools Superintendent David Lussier wrote in an e-mail Friday. «One of the individuals killed and one injured are graduates of Wellesley High School.»

Lussier provided no other information, telling that law enforcement was attempting to notify next of kin.

«Please join me in extending your thoughts, prayers, and support to the families of all of the victims,» he said.

Distress counseling is available for staff and students at the school, Lussier wrote.

A section of Commercial Street was shut down for several hours Friday while investigators worked on a reconstruction of the crash. Work crews righted a black car with Rhode Island plates Friday morning and hauled it from the scene.

Another vehicle parked on Commercial Street sustained major rear-end harm.

Neighbors Rebecca and Kevin Ryan, who live nearby, said they were awakened by the crash and looked outside, where they eyed three youthfull studs lounging on the ground.

«There was a screech and then you heard [the vehicle] hitting a duo of cars,» Kevin Ryan said. «You instantly knew . . . that something horrific happened.»

Rebecca Ryan said she spotted an overturned vehicle in the street and thought the studs might have been struck while crossing the street. She said the boys were lounging close to each other near a parked vehicle that also was bruised.

«It looked like they were crossing the street. The way they were lounging, it didn`t look like they were ejected from the car because they were right next to the car that had been hit,» she said.

The duo said a police officer performed CPR on one of the victims. Another woman who witnessed the aftermath of the crash said the man receiving CPR died. She declined to give her name but said she was saddened by the deaths.

«It`s just such a waste of life,» said the woman, who described herself as a retired nurse. «Youthfull kids.»

Rebecca Ryan said she spotted one of the injured guys moving.

«One of them was moving sort of back and forward and then we witnessed him get into an ambulance,» she said. «And then we witnessed them put sheets over the other boys.»

They said the street was silent as police worked to help the victims.

«It was totally quiet,» Kevin Ryan said. «I think that was very likely the weirdest part. It was so quiet.»

Rebecca Ryan said the intersection is vulnerable to fender benders, but she has never seen a crash of that magnitude there.

«It`s an intersection. I wouldn`t . . . call it dangerous,» she said.

The crash left her shaken.

Jimmy Gusmini, 31, said his rental car was parked on Commercial Street and he could not reach it because of the police investigation.

«I feel bad for the people,» Gusmini said, as he waited on Hull Street for investigators to let him come back to his vehicle.
